Accompany me in building a better Bharat

T his was the first article I wrote in 2009 to begin my blog. Today, Arvind Kejriwal is the leader I was hunting for and I am walking on his path. Aam Aadmi Party is the answer to all my questions. How easy is it for a common man to sit in a group, have a sip of tea/coffee and slam the corrupt politicians? How easily one can condemn Sonia Gandhi for deploying Manmohan Singh as the puppet Prime Minister? But has the same common man ever thought of bringing a change and making a difference? A govt official working in a Municipal Corporation may get allured when bribed for providing a fake birth certificate. But the same man wouldn't hesitate in accusing A Raja for his indulgence in multi-crore spectrum scam. After all, this is India (World's Largest Democracy) where everything is tolerated. I don't say criticism is wrong. But according to me, a person doesn't inherit the right to criticise until he/she performs better than the subject being criticised. ...

Our austere Marriage

Image
Happy to get married in an austere ceremony on 13 May 2012 with Ankit Lal.  Breaking the boundaries of caste, I and Ankit tied the knot of marriage in a simple ceremony with a budget of around Rs.20,000.  To my joy, the kanyadan was done by Arvind Kejriwal, and that added value to the pious ritual.  Presence of several other selfless activists involved in socio-political reforms filled the mandap with the aura of dedication and service towards others. The gathering of around 100 people dressed in plain regular wears without any show off or formality made the occasion uncommon.  Though our parents were not pat of the ceremony but that does not mean that we are regardless to them. For two months, both of us tried our best to persuade them. The families did accept us but could not accept each other. One of the reasons why our families did not join was the choice of our austerity. We had a memorable beginning of our new life with ble...

When I confronted Arvind Kejriwal

Image
‘Indian politics is full of rapists & murderers’ ‘Politics is a game of money & muscle power ‘ ‘Generally those people join politics who have nothing else to do in life’ These words have been ringing in my ears since I developed my power of thought. Politics in India is a dirty game. A profession meant for crooks and criminals. An educated youth from a non-political background can dare think of joining politics. Go to any school or college, ask the students what career they want to opt for, there would hardly be anyone to say, 'I aspire to join active politics'.  Individuals inclined towards society cannot choose politics as the path to work for the people. Contesting elections is so expensive that you cannot hope of winning it until you adopt illegal means. Politics is a profession of the rich and powerful. This violates the basic essence of democracy, which says that any individual above a particular age can contest elections and become an elected represen...

Reformation in the East

My experiences are giving me a feel of the century old Indian Independence struggle. Our freedom fighters fought for around 200 years against the exploitative British rule. But, they made a big blunder when the independence was achieved. They overthrew the Britishers but could not overthrow the system. Our Parliament, administration, bureaucracy, judiciary, police and all other institutions remained unreformed. The Crown was no longer in control of us but the system they had established continued to rule our minds. The West is still capturing the minds of the East. So, if the disempowered sections of the world really want to compete with those empowered, it can happen only by becoming self reliant and not just copying the West. There is a need for renaissance in the East. There is a need for reformation in the southern hemisphere. The West will continue to dominate the world till the East realise their potential and act in original. My short journey of under...
